As the Brother of Patrisse Cullors, founder of Black Lives Matter, Kendrick and his sister grew up with a brother with a serious mental illness. Instead of being treated with dignity, their brother was attacked by the police and incarcerated instead of getting the mental health services he needed.
Sampson is an actor and producer currently playing in the HBO series "Insecure" and who played roles on TV in "How to Get Away with Murder", 'The Vampire Diaries', and 'Gracepoint'.
In this interview he opens up about his own mental illness and the need to change the California laws by getting voters to the polls in 2020 to vote YES on the ballot item, REFORM LA JAILS 2O2O. Currently they are fighting against a proposed $3.5 billion proposal to expand the Los Angeles prison system, and offering criminal justice reform in place of housing the mentally ill and homeless in jails.
